3.2.Distribution Modes #

Splines define a curve in the scene, but there are many different ways it can be used to spawn objects. This asset features a number of different distribution methods.

Distribution is designed for 3D applications and world-building. Therefore many methods work on the XZ plane.

Some distribution modes require 3 or more knots on a spline and will not appear to spawn anything otherwise.

On Curve

Distributes the objects along the Spline curve(s) in a traditional manner.

Inside Area

Distributes the objects within the (closed) shape of the curve, where each spawn point is an equal distance from another.

The Spacing value is always clamped to the size of the smallest prefab. This is to avoid objects overlapping and against accidental editor hang ups.

On Knots

On every Spline knot, an object will be spawned, aligning to its rotation.

Options are available to spawn only on select knots. For example only the first, last, both or within a specified range.

Radial

Within a (closed) Spline’s area, objects are distributed in rings growing outward from the center.

Grid

Within the area of a closed Spline, objects are distributed in rows & columns.
